As educators and students, our desire is to provide resources and encouragement the Christian education community. Our teaching extends beyond the walls of a "traditional classroom," as we know that teachers are also active within homes, churches, and other community spaces. We know that teaching in these spheres is not easy. It is challenging, spiritually demanding, and often overwhelming.

We hope to serve as a center of honest conversation about the realities of teaching, combining the need for both philosophical, idealistic discourses and practical, realistic resources. Sometimes we can have all of the practical resources at our disposal but are too spiritually empty to carry out our plans. Other times, we may be spiritually encouraged by our aspirations but lack the practical knowledge to achieve our goals.
Through our conversations and services, we desire to create concordia.

Karen Travis
Karen has a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Auburn University. She has been involved in education, in one form or another, for 29 years in public, private, and homeschool environments. Karen was a founding board member of Cornerstone Christian Academy and is currently a member of the CiRCE master classical teacher apprenticeship program. She is now the Dean of Teaching and Learning at Grace Classical Christian Academy in Albertville, Alabama.

Elisabeth York
Elisabeth has been an educator in both public and private schools. She was heavily influenced by her mother's homeschooling to become an educator herself. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in English with a teaching certification from Athens State University. She is a beautiful writer and pianist, and you'll likely catch her re-watching The West Wing and re-reading the literary classics. Elisabeth is a passionate advocate for honest conversations about teaching.

Maggie Bell
Maggie is currently an instructor and PhD student in Auburn University's English department. She holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Lee University and a Master of Arts from Auburn. She enjoys teaching and studying community-engaged writing and rhetoric. Maggie is the owner of Writing by Bell, where she provides grant writing and editing services for nonprofit organizations. She loves coffee, cats, and new notebooks. Maggie is always networking with new people and finding ways to build concordia with them.

Trey Bell
Trey is a classical educator with a humanities degree from Lee University. Trey has taught history, Latin, Bible and is currently a 6th grade teacher at Auburn Classical Academy. He enjoys translating Latin, reading mythology, and studying the ancient world. He is studying for his Master of Divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. You'll typically find him encouraging his students to "omnia disce." For fun, Trey cheers on the Auburn Tigers, re-watches Star Wars, and plans spontaneous adventures with his wife.

Luke Laney
Luke holds a master of education degree from Bryan College in Christian school administration. He taught for five years as a high school science teacher and has been teaching as a youth pastor for ten years. He currently works as the Executive Director of a large nonprofit organization in Alabama. He has also founded a nonprofit, Two Or More, and is passionate about equipping students to serve within their churches and communities. He enjoys collecting many books and attempting to read them before he finds more, although he is rarely successful.

Andi West
Andi taught for 12 years as a high school Bible teacher and is currently homeschooling her teenage daughter, Selah. She obtained her bachelor's degree in psychology from Athens State University. She is passionate about creating educational resources and strategies for neurodivergent students and their teachers. Andi is an avid reader of all things C. S. Lewis, and you will most often find her talking and writing about his work.
